Abstract

1479895 Web winding NISHIMURA SEISAKUSHO CO Ltd 21 June 1974 [21 June 1973] 27746/74 Heading B8R An apparatus for winding adhesive tapes F2, Fig. 1, formed by slitting an adhesive web F1 at a slitting station A, is provided with a core changing device which includes an indexable turret 18, Fig. 2, supporting four core holders 17 movable successively past a core loading station E, a waiting station G, a tape cutting and apply ing station B and a core discharge station D located above a conveyer 82. In operation the slitted tapes F2 are fed over a guide roller 13 and a cutting drum 20 to cores 14 on to which the tapes are wound to form rolls 15 which are in contact with a friction drive roller 16. When a predetermined length has been wound in the cores 14 the cutting drum 20 is actuated to project its movable knife blade 23, Fig. 3, radially outwardly to cut the tapes F2 and apply the leading edge of the severed tapes to fresh cores 14 which have meanwhile been tipped by a detent 70 into driving contact with the cutting drum 20. The severed treating ends F3 are applied to the rolls 15 and the turret 18 is indexed through 90 degrees, whereby the fresh cores 14 are brought into contact with the roller 16. The fully wound rolls 15 are discharged at station D and the cores at station E and G are indexed to corresponding successive positions. The cores 14 are pressed into conact with the drum 20 or roller 16 by cylinders 60 acting on the pivotal arm 17a of the core holders 17.
