1479811 Rotatable grippers CETEC DRESSLER CONSTRUCTIONS ET ETUDES THERMIQUES ET CERAMIQUES 4 Aug 1975 [10 Sept 1974] 32563/75 Heading B8H A device for use in loading and unloading an article 40 comprises a frame or support body 1 which is suspended by a cable 31 of a hoisting mechanism 22 from a rotatable support (21, 25), Figs. 1, 2 (not shown), a pair of gripping arms 3 connected to respective carriages 2 which are movable in synchronism in the body 1 by means of respective hydraulic actuators 5 and a device 6 which ensures synchronization of the motion of the actuators 5, an articleengaging member 4 being hingedly mounted at the lower end of each arm 3, the members 4 being rotatable simultaneously in order to rotate an article held therebetween, such rotation of the members 4 being effected by an actuator 8 whose cylinder is fast with the body 1 and whose piston rod is connected to a lever 50, so that on actuation of the actuator 8 the lever 50 is rotated which in turn causes a shaft 51, lever arms 52 and shafts 53 to be rotated, the shafts 53 being pivotally connected through respective supports 54 to a respective lever arm 55, each lever arm 55 being fast with an articleengaging member 4. The supports 54 are movable with the gripping arms 3 due to the engagement of rollers 56 with the shafts 53. The movement of the arms 3 and the rotation of the members 4 is controlled by an operator from control boxes 60 mounted on the body 1.
