Abstract

1478704 Boat ladders A FROMILHAGUE 13 Sept 1974 39994/74 Heading B7S [Also in Division E1] A ladder assembly for mounting on a boat comprises an upstanding railing 3 having an opening 7, and a ladder 8 which is pivoted about a horizontal axis and is longituidnally extensible, so arranged that when the ladder is swung up and retracted it fills the opening in the railing (Fig. 1, not shown), and when swung down and extended it may be used for access by a person in the water. As shown the ladder is telescopic, but it may comprise two pivotally-connected sections which fold against one another to retract the ladder (Figs. 4 and 5, not shown). When stowed in the opening 7, an end rung 11c of the ladder is aligned with the top rail 4, and is fastened thereto by projections or bolts on the rung or rail engaging in recesses in the rail or rung respectively. A stay 12 may be provided on the boat if necessary to maintain the ladder vertical in use.
