Abstract

The ladder is fixed to the transom or to the side of the yacht, and is extendable. The ladder is of the tubular structure type and in the folded position fills the gap in the guard rail. When the ladder is required to be used, it is first released from the stanchions on either side of it and reversed into the water. It may then be extended downwards further into the water, by unfolding a second section hinged onto the first, so as to extend to a position of sufficient depth, to allow a swimming man to stand on the bottom rung. The ladder does not use up any space on deck and is always ready.
