Abstract

The rig for oil or gas drilling is of the jacking-up type. The positioning of the platform and piles relative to each other, when the rig is at the desired positon, is accomplished using screw-jacks. The screw-jacks include locking mechanisms which permit supporting of the platform structure, regardless of its relative position, and operate independently of the jacks. The screw-jacks include threaded rods which are connected between supports on the structure. Nuts cooperate with the threaded rods to act as the locking mechanism of the structure.
