Abstract

1478342 Diving equipment: helmets GENERAL AQUADYNE Inc 10 June 1974 25597/74 Heading B7U Equipment such as a light or a camera is mounted within a housing which is maintained at the same pressure as the air supplied to a diver's face mask or helmet by an air pipe. The housing may be mounted on top of a diving helmet or strapped onto a diver's head or another part of his body. In a first embodiment a wet helmet is pivotally secured by headed pins 12 to a face mask 10 and includes a housing compartment 18 having a window 19 through which passes light from a bulb 21. The housing is pressurized by a tube 23 connected to a pressure regulator 31 by a self sealing coupling which seals upon withdrawal of an elbow on the end of tube 23. A power cable 24 passes through the tube 23 and the bulb 21 is turned on/off by a switch 48 suitably located for manual operation by the diver. A video camera maybe located in housing 18 instead of the bulb 21. Alternatively a housing is strapped onto a diver's head and an air pipe is connected between it and a face mask. In a third construction (not shown) a diving helmet has a housing on top whose interior is connected to the housing by an air pipe.
