Abstract

1395934 Underwater breathing system TAYLOR DIVING & SALVAGE CO Inc 11 Aug 1972 [8 Nov 1971 12 Nov 1971] 73558/72 Heading B7U Apparatus for underwater diving operations comprises chamber 7 permitting entrance and exit of a diver wearing helmet 1 from which supply line 43 and return line 8 extend to the chamber. Return tank 19 remote from the diver has gas removed from it by depressor 21 which maintains a relatively low pressure in the return tank to promote a continuous flow from the helmet. Compressor 31 remote from the diver receives gas drawn by the depressor from tank 19 through enclosure 22 and pressurizes gas in supply tank 32 remote from the diver so that a continuous flow of gas is maintained through the supply line 43 to the helmet. Valves 2, 3, 5 and 6 regulate the rate of continuous flow from the supply line through the helmet and into the return line 8 independent of the breathing effort of the diver. An oxygen supply 29 is available to the chamber and gas received from the return tank 19 is reconditioned in CO 2 scrubber 24 and passed to the supply tank 32.
