Abstract

1477887 Measuring toner concentration XEROX CORP 5 Nov 1974 [15 Nov 1973] 47864/74 Heading G1A [Also in Division G2] In an electro-photographic apparatus a light source 50 illuminates a periodically electrically biased electrode 48 mounted in the drum 10. The intensity of light transmitted through the electrode 48 and its associated attracted toner particles is detected by a photo-sensor 56 which produces an electrical signal corresponding to the intensity. Circuitry compares the signal with a reference and adjusts toner replenishing means accordingly. Fibre optics 52 transmit light from source 50.
