Abstract

1318895 Electro-photography XEROX CORP 14 Oct 1970 [17 Oct 1969] 48782/70 Heading G2H In a process for recycling a solid toner/ carrier mixture to a xerographic development zone (the toner being replenished from a dispenser when its concentration falls below a predetermined threshhold value), a portion of the mixture bypasses the zone through a device 40 for measuring the concentration of the toner, the device comprising a spaced pair of transparent electrode plates 48 and 50 of alternating polarity (e. g. each second), a lamp L1, and a photo-cell P1, the output of which is dependent on the concentration of toner. When the concentration reaches the threshhold value, the toner dispenser is automatically actuated. If the dispenser is empty, the xerographic machine may be automatically shut down when a predetermined lower concentration of toner is reached.
