Abstract
1476883 Aerating liquids AIR PRODUCTS & CHEMICALS INC 20 Jan 1976 [22 Jan 1975] 2723/75 Heading B1C ]Also in Division A1] A method of fish farming comprises growing fish in water having an average dissolved oxygen level which is maintained above saturation by bringing the water into contact with gas comprising at least 25% by volume oxygen, the residue (if any) of the gas being mainly nitrogen. Saturation is defined as the maximum amount of oxygen which the water would absorb in equilibrium with air under the prevailing ambient conditions. The preferred oxygen level is between 150% and 250% salination; the gas may be introduced through a diffuser, and the undissolved gas collected and recycled through the same or another body of water. An apparatus, Fig. 2, comprises a cascade of tanks 32, 32, 34, 36, 38, 40 each overflowing into the next. Oxygen is supplied from line 44 to diffusers 50, 58; undissolved gas is collected by collectors 60, 70 and passed through line 62 (the valve 94 being closed) to a cyclone 64 where moisture is removed, and then recycled by a compressor 80 and line 84 to diffusers 88, 90 in tanks 38, 32. Collectors 66, 74 in these tanks also return undissolved gas to line 62.
