147,392. Oliver, E. Nov. 13, 1919. Tyre attachments to rims.-A detachable rim is formed in two separable parts 4, 5 having a stepped joint 2 and an inclined lap-joint 3. At the joint 2, the ends of the rim portions are formed with stepped portions 9, 10 fitted with angle-plates a, b which, in the closed position of the rim, abut against one another and overlap the tongues 15 on the rim ends. In the form shown in Fig. 3, an aperture 6 is provided for the passage of the valve-stem at the joint 2. In the modification shown in Fig. 5, the valve aperture 6<1> is spaced from the end of the rim section, and the plates a<1>, b<1> are fitted with lugs 22 adapted to enter a recess in the fixed wheel rim to prevent creeping. At the lapped joint 3, a locking- lever 17 is pivoted at 18 to the end of the rim section 4 and has a cam-slot 20 to engage a pin 21 on the other rim part 5.
