Detachable-rim attachments to wheels. - The detachable rim 1 is secured to the wheel by means of clamps 55, 61 having tapered jaws 53 engaging the bevelled edges of the fixed rim 51. The clamps 61 carry pins 65 engaging apertures in the rim 1, and, in the case of collapsible rims, these apertures are arranged on opposite sides of the joint. The pins 65 may project slightly into the rim to prevent seizure of the tyre beads. The detachable rim is slightly greater in internal diameter than the external diameter of the fixed rim so that the detachable rim is flattened and bears upon the fixed rim between the clamps when these are tightened. Fig. 8 shows a channelled felloe 73, for use with wire-spoked wheels, in which the inclined seatings 74 for the clamps are pressed out of the walls of the channel.
