Abstract
1472545 Liquid sampling device R JENKINS 23 Jan 1975 [3 Nov 1973] 51131/73 Heading B8N A liquid sampling device comprises a housing providing a sample receiving chamber and an air outlet from the housing which is adjustable to change the rate of escape of air and hence the rate of sampling. The air outlet comprises a pipe 10, Fig. 3, fixed to the housing and a sleeve 11 slidable on the pipe. A needle 15 carried by the end cap 14 of the sleeve 11 co-operates with a tube 16 mounted by the end cap 17 of the pipe. The needle has a tapered flat so that relative axial adjustment of the needle and tube varies the escape rate of the air. The air escapes into a chamber 13 and then via the space between the pipe 10 and the sleeve 11 to an outlet 19 in the sleeve. The liquid sample enters the chamber via a plastics end plug, Fig. 2, with an inclined bore 7 from a recess 6 whose upper end 8 is below the exit of the bore 7 to provide slow feed.
