Abstract

1472543 Measuring atmospheric pressure electrically: pressure gauges LUCAS ELECTRICA] Ltd 6 Sept 1974 [6 Sept 1973] 41882/73 Headings G1L and G1N Apparatus for measuring atmospheric pressure comprises a casing 11, Fig. 1, vented to atmosphere by a hole 15, carrying an evacuated bellows 23 attached at its lower end to the bottom of the casing by a ball 22 and socket 21 so that the bellows is allowed to tilt relative to the casing, and attached at its upper end to a slider 36 movable axially against a potentiometer winding, whereby the resistance tapped off the winding is indicative of atmospheric pressure. As shown the upper end of the bellows carries a support 25 which is attached by a washer 29 with resilient tags 31, 32 at the outer and inner peripheries to an arm 28 slidable between bearings 33, 34. In an alternative arrangement the washer 29 is replaced by a second ball and socket coupling.
