Abstract
896,315. Resistors. TESLA, NARODNI PODNIK. May 20, 1960 [June 2, 1959], No. 17877/60. Class 37. The contact arm of a rotary potentiometer is mounted on an insulating carrier itself tiltably mounted on the end of the potentiometer shaft, and is maintained in contact at its two ends with a resistance element and a collector ring by a spring acting on the carrier. The metal contact arm 7, Figs. 1 and 3, mounted on the insulating carrier 6, Figs. 1 and 2, by the projection of lug 61 through hole 72, and maintained in position by lugs 62 and 63, makes contact by lugs 71 and 73 to the resistance element 16 and the collector ring 15, respectively, which latter are fixed to the mounting plate 8 by the ends of their lead wires 9, 10 and 11 which function as rivets. The carrier 6 is supported by, but is not fixed to, the milled end of shaft 1, and helical spring 5 is compressed between the carrier and stop arm 4 which is fixed to the shaft. Sealing may be provided by ring 24 and an insert held in place by the rolled edge 23. A rotary switch 14 may be operated by the stop arm 4. The resistance element may be coated directly on to plate 8, and the contact arm may be mounted by grooves instead of lugs.
