Abstract

760,541. Recording apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Sept. 3, 1954 [Sept. 8, 1953], No. 25616/54. Class 106 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] An indicating device which provides an approximate representation of the frequency characteristic of an associated amplifier comprises a length of steel wire 11 held at its centre by a clamp 9 and connected at its extremities so as to be moved upon movement of a corresponding frequency-control member. In the arrangement shown the shafts 45, 47 of the frequency-control members are coupled through cord-and-pulley systems with the arms 29 and 31, these arms operating through the steel wires 21 and 23 to position the extremities of the wire 11 so as to indicate the frequency characteristic of the amplifier. The wire 11 is preferably coloured white and moves in front of a dark. background. A transparent ruled plate 55, forming part of the outer case of the amplifier, is provided for enabling the device to be viewed. The wires 21, 23 may be replaced by cords in which case additional tensioning springs are provided.
