Abstract

1468238 Coated abrasives FELDMUHLE ANLAGEN-UND PRODUKTIONS GmbH 11 March 1974 [10 March 1973] 10675/74 Heading C4V An abrasive comprises abrasive particles bonded to a substrate and having a covering layer over the abrasive particles which comprises 16-91% of a binder and 9-84% of at least one wax the percentages being based on a total weight of the binder and the wax. Suitable waxes are plant waxes such as carnauba wax and ouricuri wax, insect waxes such as beeswax and natural paraffin waxes such as ceresin. Synthetic waxes such as polyolefin waxes and particularly amide waxes may be used. The binder is preferably a synthetic resin such as a phenolic resin, an epoxy resin, a polyester resin, a polyurethane resin, an alkyd resin, a urea resin or a melamine resin, or a natural binder such as hide glue. The abrasive material may be in the form of an abrasive-coated sheet preferably in the form of a belt.
