Abstract

PURPOSE: An abrasive material capable of easy abrading, effectively abrading the surface of a body to be abraded and simultaneously accomplishing mirror polishing for said surface, which comprises an org. solid abrasive grain with specified hardness.
CONSTITUTION: An org. solid abrasive grain consisting of a synthetic resin, e.g., pref. one of particle size ≥ about 7μ such as a polyester resin with a network structure prepared by the condensation of a methacrylate resin or ≥500,000 MW and ethylene glycol with trimellitic acid, given Mohs hardness of about 1.5W5 by means of modification of the molecular weight, formation of a crosslinking structure, etc. is used. An inorg. solid abrasive grain such as carborundum or an emery abrasive grain of particle size ≤ about 5μ may be used together.
