Abstract
1466112 Piled walls SOIL MECHANICS Ltd 11 Feb 1975 [23 Jan 1974] 3167/74 Heading E1H A method of forming a concrete cast in situ contiguous bored pile wall comprises post-tensioning the individual piles after the concrete has set by means of steel bars or cables 13 anchored at one end 14 and tensioned from the other end 15 before the wall is subjected to a load. The members 13 are held in position prior to casting by a reinforcing cage. Extra reinforcing bars, e.g. (16), Fig. 5 not shown, can be placed in the pile to compensate for any stresses set up as a result of tensioning. The tensioning members can be of helical form.
