Abstract

877,022. Building and structures subaqueous. ROBERTSON, A. M. June 30, 1960 [July 1, 1959], No. 22619/59. Class 68(2). A method of constructing piled piers, jetties, bridges, and the like consists in driving bents of piles, comprising a single pile 14 and a pair of raker piles 15. A piling frame 11 and crane 12 are supported on rails 10 mounted on girders 10a, a cantilever structure 13 enabling the first bent to be driven a suitable distance off shore. A preformed shuttering structure 16 is fitted over the piles forming a beam 26 when concrete is introduced having shoulders 23 and bearer pads 24 for supporting the rail girders 10a. Reinforced planks 28 are then fitted supported by a shoulder 23 and by a shore support and the rails and girders are extended to rest on the pads 24 so that the piling frame and crane are moved forward and the next pile bent can be driven.
