Abstract
Pre-fab. reinforced concrete component is for structures which are to be embedded in excavated spaces, such as remaining walls, tunnels etc. Component consists of a wall of rectangular shape of which at least one side has parallel ribs cavities or corrugations which are dimensioned such that concrete can be poured through them to provide lateral support and/or a foundation for the element. The side opposite to the ribbed side may be flat or ribbed also. The ribs may have oblong and/or circular holes. The element may be a monolithic portal member. To place the element, one may first excavate for, and pour, concrete guides, then produce slots by forcing down bentonite, place the element in the slot, and finally pour concrete through and between the ribs.
