Abstract

1465996 Multi-row crop harvester W HOLLINGSWORTH and K B HURST 30 Oct 1975 [7 Nov 1974] 48164/74 Heading A1F A multi-row crop harvester, in particular for Brussels Sprouts comprises two or more laterally spaced sets of the following; (1) a pair of crop guiding belts 26A, B with fingers 31, which interengage to a degree variable by adjusting pulley 33, and which guide the crop between (2) a pair of mutually inclined rotatable cutting discs 2, 9 which overlap at just above ground level, and the cut crop is conveyed backwards by (3) a pair of longitudinal conveyor belts 35A, B inclined to form a "V". The pair of conveyor belts 35A, B from each set leads to a transverse elevator 53 which loads the crop on a trailer or a hopper (not shown). The whole apparatus is mounted on a frame, height adjustably supported by ground wheels 50, and is either trailed by a tractor or is self-driven, and is powered from a motor 20 (Fig. 8) turning a sprocket 19 and hence driving the disc 2, conveyors 35A, B, belts 26A, B and disc 9. An alternative crop guide comprises a rotatable drum having peripheral pivoted rubber paddles which urge the crop: between the cutting discs 2, 9.
