1301844 Combine harvester RANSOMES SIMS & JEFFERIES Ltd 23 Feb 1970 [11 March 1969] 12722/69 Heading A1F A combine harvester comprises a reciprocating-knife cutter 3, reel 27, feed auger 11 and endless-belt crop conveyor 25 mounted on a subframe on the feed table 9. The peripheral speed of reel 27 is slightly greater than the forward speed of the harvester and the linear speed of conveyor 25 is greater than the peripheral speed of reel 27 but less than the peripheral speed of auger 11. Thus the cut crop is conveyed on conveyor 25 with the heads leading and presented to the auger 11 and thence to the drum and concave 21, 23 via elevator 17 in that configuration to ensure maximum threshing efficiency. The subframe can be raised at one end to facilitate cleaning. In an alternative embodiment the crop conveyor 25 comprises transversely mounted driven rollers.
