Abstract
966,375. Harvesting pea-nuts. G. FRARESSO, and E. FRARESSO May 16, 1961, No. 17872/61. Heading A1F. A pea-nut harvester comprises a frame 1 supporting a row of cutting blades 4 arranged transversely, a pair of divergent discs 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, in contact at their rims, being arranged behind each blade to lift the plants and deposit them in rows on the ground. As shown, three lifting units a, a<SP>1</SP>, a<SP>11</SP> are provided (Fig. 2); two of them a, a<SP>1</SP> discharge on to an endless elevator 5 which then delivers the crop to the ground via a transverse belt conveyer 6, into the same line as that followed by the crop from the unit a<SP>11</SP>. The frame 1 is mounted on front wheels 2 and rear steerable wheels 3 and is towed by a tractor through a drawbar 42. The rear wheels comprise castors interconnected by a track-rod 53 and tiltable about pivots 30, to varying the working height of the frame 1, by rollers 32 carried by pivoted bell-cranks 33. The conveyer 5 is carried by links 48<SP>1</SP> and a chain 38 which can be raised by mechanism 39, 40, and the lifting units are mounted on a pivoted subframe 14 raisable by a cable 18<SP>1</SP>. The discs 7 have pulleys 10 on their outer faces by which they are driven from a lay-shaft 14 driven from the towing tractor. The discs have rubber-covered rims 51 which are pressed into contact by springs 25, 26 acting on arms 22 integral with vertical spindles 11 carrying the axles 8 of the discs.
