Abstract

1464606 Pipe cutting and chamfering apparatus COMPAC-CUTTING MACHINE CORP 16 Aug 1974 36132/74 Heading B3T A pipe cutting and end preparing apparatus comprise a plurality of pairs of semicircular segments assemblable together around a pipe to be cut and to be supported thereon, the pairs of segments including pipe gripping means in the form of collet members 20A, 20B adjustably mounted on a split body assembly 16 securable to a main housing assembly 12 formed by parts 12A, 12B, an annular gear 34 is rotatably supported on the body assembly 16 and is driven around the body by way of a pinion 35 mounted in the main housing part 12A. A cutter carriage ring 42A, 42B is attachable to the gear 34 for rotation therewith to move the cutter carriage and tool 51 around the pipe when secured by the collet members. The cutter carrier 50 is displaceable radially of the pipe by way of a screw 53 actuated by worm and wheel means 57, 55 which is actuated by a star wheel 59 which engages a pin 61 extending from the housing assembly 12 whereby at each rotation of the cutter around the pipe an incremental infeed of the cutting tool is provided. The operation of the apparatus is effected by engaging a power tool in a polygonal shaped recess 36A in the shaft 36 of the pinion 35.
