Abstract
1,074,985. Gear - cutting. GLEASON WORKS. Jan. 26, 1965, No. 857/66. Divided out of 1,074,983. Heading B3K. A gear-cutting machine comprises a reversibly rotatable cradle carrying a tool whose rotation axis is inclined to the cradle axis, a rotary work spindle in a head, and means for feeding and withdrawing the head and cradle in the direction of the cradle axis, the drive and feed means being so-co-ordinated that the tool can be brought to full cutting depth at one end of a tooth slot while the cradle is held stationary and then can complete the cutting of the slot by rotation of the cradle. The tooth sides are thus cut as surfaces of revolution about the axis of the cradle. The machine is as described in Specification 1,074,983.
