Abstract

1463021 Electrolytic persulphate production; electrolytic cells PEROXID-CHEMIE GmbH 24 March 1975 [26 March 1974] 12092/75 Heading C7B Group I metal or ammonium persulphates are made by electro-chemical oxidation of an acidic sulphate solution in a cell having cathodes of Ti or Ti alloy. The alloy may be with Al, Pd, Sn or Zr and anodes with Pt surfaces may be used. The electrolyte may contain conducting salts e.g. borates, cyanides or thiocyanates. The cell used comprises concentric anode 1 and Ti cathode 3. The anode is covered with Pt at 6 and is plugged at 4, whereby electrolyte passes through the anode and orifices 9 therein to the annular working space 8. The cathode is supported and sealed by parts 2, 5 of insulating material.
