Abstract

1461883 Ballistic assembly VALINOR ANSTALT 28 March 1974 [5 Oct 1973] 13791/74 Heading F3C In a ballistic assembly a launcher has a tube 4, Fig. 3, a foot 5 having an anchoring tip 6, and has a shoulder strap 7, and a projectile has a head 1, a tubular body 2 and fins 3. The body 2 of the projectile receives a tube 11, Fig. 1, of the launcher, the latter containing a push-rod 14, a piston 13, a charge 12 and a primer which is carried by an igniter plug 18. The plug 18 also carries a striker 181. A guide member 10 is provided which contains a floating member 21, a stop 23 for the member 21, a guide-rod 25 and a spring 27, and has a tube 4 attached thereto. The guide-rod 25 is retained by cams 30, Fig. 2, which are pivotally mounted to a carrier 31 by pins 32. The tube 4 has a sleeve 34 slidably mounted therein having a core 34<SP>1</SP> which is engageable with the cams 30 to effect the release of the guide-rod 25 held thereby. A sleeve 35 is slidably mounted on the tube 4 and is connected to the carrier 31 by a cross-shaft 36 which extends into a longitudinal aperture in the tube 4. The launcher is fired by sliding the sleeve 35/carrier 31 assembly, along with the guide-rod 25, towards a damper 37 which is attached by a screw 39 to an end cap of the tube 4, thus causing the spring 27 to be compressed. A ring 24, mounted on the guide-rod 25 seals the inside of tbe tube 4 and air above the floating member 21 causes the latter to move away from the striker 18. When the cams 30 are actuated by the core 34<SP>1</SP> of the sleeve 34 against the urging of a spring 33, the floating member 21 is urged by the spring 27 so as to cause the striker 18 to ignite the charge 12, thus forcing the piston 13 and the push-rod 14 out of the launching tube 11. Dampers 24 and 29 are also provided.
