Abstract
1296346 Fins MESSERSCHMITT-BOLKOW-BLOHM GmbH 3 Feb 1970 [7 Feb 1969] 5040/70 Heading F3A] A projectile for launching from a tube comprises fins 17 which, on launching, are pushed by a spring 12 along the surface of a cone 7 into an extended position. The fins are guided by slots 20 in the projectile casing and are arranged to be both frictionally and positively secured in the extended position. Prior to launching arcuate portions 19 of the fins bear against the inside surface of the launching tube to secure them in a retracted position. As the fins move they also operate a timing mechanism for a detonator. The cone 7 can be used for accomodating a jet propulsion unit or the tip of a corresponding projectile.
