Abstract

1460529 Underwater structure GOLDER HOEK & ASSOCIATES Ltd 14 May 1975 [22 May 1974] 22817/74 Heading E1H An underwater structure, e.g. to support an oil drilling platform in water up to depths of 1,000 ft, is formed by floating a unit 10 with an impervious membrane 12 joined thereto to a site, inflating the membrane by pumping water into it until the base rests on a water bed, filling the membrane with non- settable particulate material through the space between concentric casings 18 and 20, which have been lowered into the space enclosed by the membrane, and draining water from the space by pumping it through a perforated easing 16, and then sinking the unit 10 on to the particulate base. The particulate material can be laid in layers 30 with drainage layers 28 intervening.
