Abstract

1535227 Subaqueous structures GOLDER ASSOCIATES Ltd 16 March 1977 [23 March 1976 13 May 1976] 11588/76 and 19878/76 Addition to 1460529 Heading E1H A method of forming an underwater structure, Fig. 2, comprises transporting a substantially closed container formed from an impermeable membrane 12 to a site and extending it to cause its base to rest on the sea bed, filling the membrane with a body of non-settable particulate material 26, and draining the body to enable the external water pressure to exert a confining pressure on the body to render it coherent. As shown, the body is annular and is drained by pumps 16 and pipes 20. A piezometer 28 stock monitors the pressure during filling. Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), illustrate other embodiments.
