Abstract

1455117 Heat-treating nickel alloys DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 18 March 1974 [21 Dec 1972] 59147/72 Heading C7A Nickel alloys containing at least two different types of precipitate phase and which have been subjected to creep deformation are heated to a temperature at which only one of those phases is dissolved and are then aged to re-precipitate that phase, the second phase acting to restrain grain growth during the heat-treatment. As particularly exemplified, an alloy containing (by wt.) 15% Cr, 20% Co, up to 5% Mo, up to 5% Al, up to 1% Ti, and up to 0.2% C, balance Ni is treated at 1050‹C for 16 hours followed by 16 hours at 850‹C, while an alloy containing 15% Cr, 15% Co, up to 5% Mo, up to 5.5% Al, up to 4À5% Ti and up to 0À2% C is treated at 1020‹C for 2 hours and aged by air cooling.
