Abstract
1372605 Heat treating Ni-Fe base alloys CARPENTER TECHNOLOGY CORP 1 May 1972 [12 May 1971] 20200/72 Heading C7A Alloys containing 30-50 wt. per cent of Ni and at least 30 per cent of Fe, together with Nb and Ti to form eta and delta phases and Al to form gamma prime and gamma double prime phases is solution treated above the solvus temperature of the gamma phases but below that of the eta and delta and then aged to produce a structure having an intergranular precipitate of eta and delta and a fine intragranular dispersion of gamma phases. The process is applied particularly to alloys containing in percentage by weight As exemplified alloys are hot worked at 2000F, solution treated 1 hour at 1600-1800F, and air cooled, followed possibly by stabilization at 1550 -1650F for 3 hours. Ageing was carried out initially at 1325-1400F, followed by cooling at 100F/hr to a final ageing temperature of 1150-1200F.
