Abstract

1455065 Feeding tape MOVATEX PRODUCTS Ltd 25 Jan 1974 34699/74 Divided out of 1455063 Heading D1G Apparatus for feeding elastic tape to e.g. a sewing machine comprises: two rollers 113, 115 for withdrawing it from a reel, two rollers 161 which measure the amount of tape being fed to the machine, and arm 137 between these sets of rollers which senses the tension in the tape and causes the speed of the driving roller 113 to be varied according to how fast the tape is being taken up by the sewing machine. The sensing arm pivots on a shaft 141 which operates a speed control unit 143 of the driving motor 145. Excessively high or low tension on the tape moves arm to the limits of its rotation causing a cam 151 to switch the motor off in both cases. The measuring rollers 161 comprise one hard faced and one sponge or other deformable roller whose separation can be varied. As the tape passes between and rotates the rollers the hard faced roller on its shaft 175 rotates a cam 177 which actuates a counter 181 through switch 179. The tape finally passes over an adjustable guide 135.
