Abstract

1417661 Tape feed mechanism INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP 2 May 1974 [18 May 1973] 19276/74 Heading B8R A tape feed mechanism for continuously supplying tape 12 to a printer comprises a first pair of feed rollers 16, 20 driven at a first lever speed by motor M through a reduction gear T and a second pair of feed rollers 14, 18 arranged for intermittent feeding of the tape 12 from a roll 10 into a buffer store 28, the roller 14 being driven at a second faster speed by the motor M and brought into contact with the roller 18 when the tape loop diminished by the continuously rotated feed rollers 16, 20 trips a lever 22 by engaging a curved surface 48. The lever is pivoted upwardly to cause an abutment 44 to free a pin 38 in the roller 18 which is rotated by a leaf spring 40 acting on a further pin 36, whereby a flat face 34 of the roller 18 is displaced angularly such that roller 14 may engage drivingly the periphery of roller 18 and feed a predetermined length of tape into the store 28. The roller 18 is engaged by abutment 44 and displaced by the leaf spring alternately in a cyclic manner under the control of loop sensing lever 22.
