Abstract

1,219,390. Feeding sheets. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 11 March, 1969 [28 March, 1968], No. 12676/69. Heading B8R. Dropping roller feed.-A pressure roller 15 is movable into engagement with either of two continuously driven feed rollers 12 and 13 against the restoring force of springs 32 or 33, in order to feed cards 10 or 11. Roller 15 is journalled on shaft 18 carried by arm 19 fixedly secured to a shaft 20. This shaft also carries arm 34 which supports two flat springs 32, 33. An armature 26 is journalled on shaft 20 and may be attracted to electromagnet 24 or 25. A pin 30 causes arm 34 to follow movement of the armature until roller 15 engages a card. Remaining movement of the armature up to fixed stop 50 or 51 causes displacement of a spring 32 or 33 relative to arm 34, thus applying a predetermined force to the roller 15. Detent roller 56 engaging notch 55 in armature 26 ensures correct location of roller 15 in the rest position when neither magnet is energized
