Abstract

1454782 Magnetic holding device BISBELL MAGNETIC PRODUCTS Ltd 16 May 1974 [9 June 1973] 27573/73 Heading H1P A magnetic holding device for securing tools or utensils of ferromagnetic material to a wall comprises a longitudinal non magnetic rectangular base 10 with a central longitudinal groove 11 and two channel section ferrous strips 12 embracing the upstanding parts of the base at opposite sides of the groove; each having a flange 12a located in the groove. Permanent magnets 13 are disposed to fill the channel between the flanges, fabricated e.g. of anisotropic pulverulent magnetic material bonded into an extruded rubber matrix. A single magnet may be disposed within the channel, and the magnetisation is transverse to excite faces 12b of the channels in opposed polarities to retain ferromagnetic articles. The flanges may be recessed into the surfaces of the base, and the strips may alternatively be of L-section.
