Abstract

1,207,641. Magnetic catches. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. 18 Feb., 1969 [27 Feb., 1968], No. 8627/69. Heading E2A. [Also in Division H1] A receptacle has a closure and a magnetic catch comprising a member 14 formed of magnetic material blended into a plastics material fixedly mounted on a surface of the receptacle; a second member 15 formed of magnetic material blended into a plastics material mounted on a surface of the closure for movement relative thereto; the magnetic material in each of the plastics members being magnetised to provide sequentially alternating pole faces along the members; the members in closed position of the closure being positioned with pole faces of opposite polarity abutting each other to hold the closure in closed position and means 24 for moving the movable member relative to the fixed plastics member to position like pole faces in opposition to each other, to urge the closure toward an open position. In the construction shown the means 24 is a knob which is biassed by springs 27 to a central position in which the member 15 is in the fastening position. The member 15 is bonded to a plate 18 which has studs 19 which project through slots 21 in a wall surface 22 of the closure. The member 14 is bonded to the receptacles surface.
