[Also in Divisions B8 and H1] The supporting surface of an endless conveyer consists of a band of plastic material, e.g. rubber, synthetic rubber, polythene or polyvinyl chloride, in which has been compounded magnetized powdered permanent magnet material, preferably a magnetically hard ferrite, e.g. barium ferrite or other material having an intrinsic coercive force in excess of 100 oersteds. The endless band may be backed by an endless plastic band containing powdered magnetic material, e.g. iron powder, as described in Specification 950,277, the two being stuck together or merely superimposed one on the other. The surface band may be magnetized through its thickness in bands or stripes, e.g. transverse or longitudinal, of opposite polarity.
