Dynamos and motors combined for transmitting power.-In a polyphase system of electric propulsion generators of one frequency and generators of twice this frequency are combined with motors of one frequency and motors of twice this frequency to obtain various speeds. To obtain the first speed, a generator g21 of normal frequency n is run at half-speed and connected through a switch s2 to a motor m1 normally supplied with a current of frequency 2<n>. The speed of the generator g21 is increased to a maximum to give half-speed at which the generators g11, g12 are brought to half-speed, connected to the motor m3, and regulated to take up the load while the load is taken off the generator g21. Switch s2 is operated to connect generator g21 to motor m2, and the switch s1 is brought to its mid-position to connect generator g22 to motor m1. The speed of generators g11, g12 is then increased to a maximum. Reversing-switches u11, u12, u21, and u22 are provided. Specification 11183/07 is referred to.
