Abstract
1453668 Ignition systems BROWN BOVERI & CIE AG 29 May 1974 [12 June 1973] 23850/74 Heading F1B An ignition system for an internal combustion engine comprises first and second terminals 18, 17 for connection to a direct current source 2, a contact breaker 1, an ignition coil 9 having a primary winding 9a and a secondary winding 9b, a first transistor 7 having its collector connected to one end of the primary winding and its emitter connected to the first terminal 18 by way of a first resistor 8, a second transistor 4 having its collector electrode 4c connected to the base 7b of the first transistor and its emitter 4a connected to the second terminal 17, a third transistor 30 having its emitter connected to the base 4b of the second transistor and a fourth transistor 35 having its collector connected to the collector 30c of the third transistor and its emitter connected to the cathode of a diode 36 and also by way of a second resistor 37 to the contact breaker, the anode of the diode being connected to the emitter 7a of the first transistor, the base 35b of the fourth transistor 35 being connected by way of a fixed value third resistor 39 to a voltage divider comprising a Zener diode 40 and a fourth resistor 19 and the base of the fourth transistor also being connected by way of a temperature dependent fifth resistor 38 and the contact breaker to the first terminal 18. The base of the third transistor 30 is connected by way of a series circuit of a sixth resistor 31 and a capacitor 33 to the voltage divider and by way of a diode 32 to the second terminal.
