Abstract
1452725 Disazo pigments from bis-acetoacetylarylenemines CIBA-GEIGY AG 5 May 1975 [9 May 1974] 18707/75 Heading C4P Novel disazo pigments of the formula wherein A is optionally substituted phenylene or naphthylene; R is alkyl, alkenyl or aryl optionally substituted by halogen, OH, 1-6C alkoxy, alkyl or alkylmercapto, 2-6C alkoxycarbonyl, CN, optionally substituted aryl, aryloxy or arylmercapto or heterocyclyl, or R is heterocyclyl; and X and Y are H or non-water solubilizing substituents are prepared by coupling a diazo or diazoamino compound of an appropriately substituted aniline with a coupling component of the formula In one example the process is effected in dichlorobenzene and glacial acetic acid using tert.- butyl nitrite. The pigments may be aftertreated by heating with organic solvents. They may be used for pigmenting high M.W. organic material, e.g. in examples they are used to pigment a linseed oil varnish, a PVC film and a lacquer based on coconut alkyd resin and melamine-formaldehyde resin.
