Abstract
Metal-azo pigment of formula (in which A is an aryl o heterocyclic gp. B is as A or an aliphatic gp; R is an alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heterocyclic gp., or an atom to complete a heterocyclic ring with ring B; R' is a 2-3C gp and R" a 1-3C gp. to complete the rings; X and Y are O, S, N, COO or NR; M is a Cu, Zn or Ni atom; p is 1 or 2; if p is 1, C is H attached to A, B, R, R' and R", and if p is 2, C is a direct bond or an alkylene, arylene or aralkylene gp. linking 2 gps. of A, B, R, R' or R") are used for colouring of natural and synthetic resins and rubbers, and esp. paints, lacquers and printing inks. They have excellent light and solvent fastness with high colour intensity. Pigments of formula (I) and (II) have excellent weather resistance.
