Abstract
1348714 Disazo pigments SANDOZ Ltd 19 April 1971 [4 Feb 1970] 23947/71 Heading C4P New disazo pigments, free from COOH and SO 3 H groups, of formula wherein X 1 is a -CO-O- or -SO 2 -O- group, the R 1 groups, which may be the same or different, are hydrocarbyl radicals which may be substituted, A is a phenylene or naphthylene radical which may be substituted and the rings B and D may be further substituted by one or more halogen atoms or NO 2 , CN, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylcarbonyl or alkylsulphonyl groups are prepared by coupling 2 moles of a diazotized aminobenzene-carboxylic acid or -sulphonic acid ester, or a mixture thereof, with 1 mole of an appropriate bis-(alpha-keto-aceto)-arylide. The pigments are yellow or orange-yellow in shade and may be used to colour a wide variety of materials.
