Abstract

1404348 Disazo pigments CIBA-GEIGY AG 8 Sept 1972 [10 Sept 1971] 41926/72 Heading C4P Novel disazo pigments of the formula where A is an optionally substituted 1,3- or 1,4-phenylene radical and R represents a benzene radical containing at least 3 non-watersolubilizing substituents, at least 2 of which are Cl, the two R radicals being the same or different, are obtained by coupling a diazo or diazoamino compound of an appropriate amine or amines with a bisacetoacetyl-m- or p-phenylene diamine in a molar ratio of 2 : 1. In one example coupling is effected in the presence of n-butyl sulphoricinoleate; and in another the reactants are suspended in DMF and glacial acetic acid and n-butyl nitrite in o-dichlorobenzene is added to effect coupling. The resulting yellow pigments are optionally subjected to an after-treatment by heating in an organic solvent and may be used for pigmenting high molecular weight organic material, e.g. cellulose esters, natural and synthetic resins, polyamides, polyurethanes and polyesters, and lacquers, paints and printing inks.
