Abstract

1448665 Vehicle doors PERCY LANE GROUP Ltd 12 Nov 1973 [12 Aug 1972] 37728/72 Heading B7J [Also in Division E1] A door comprises a frame surrounding a panel body, the body having a cellular plastics core 62 between external panels, and having its edges received in an inwardly facing channel 24, 45 in the frame, the frame frictionally gripping the external panels. The frame comprises a U-shaped lower part 44 and a rail 23, a further frame comprising U-shaped upper part 26 and rail 23 surrounding a window. Frame part 44 and rails 23 have wedge-shaped ribs 54, 60 which enter undersized grooves 68 in the core and expand the panel edges to tightly engage the channel walls. Alternatively, the ribs may be replaced by tapered pins or the sides of the channels may be crimped into firm engagement with the panel. The exterior panels 64, 66 are of aluminium, or panel 66 may be of wood.
