In a continuously laterally extending sliding window of a building in which the inferior can be divided e.g. by movable walls 7 in different ways involving different lateral lengths of the window, the mullions 3 of the frame are movable to coincide with the limits 7 of the said lengths and have on their lateral sides longitudinally extending grooves 6 for sealingly receiving the edge 6 of a sliding sash 8. A vertical edge of a sash may be provided with a frame member which in turn is provided with a handle 9. As shown the mullions are of S-section. Other sections are illustrated in= Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown).
