Abstract

1448019 Surface-aerating ERICH PETERS & CO METALLWAREN STANZ-U DREHTEILE APPARATEBAU WERKZEUBAU 16 Oct 1973 [17 Oct 1972 28 Aug 1973] 48323/73 Heading B1C [Also in Division C1] The surface foam formed when an oxygencontaining gas (e.g. air) is fed into liquid manure, liquid excrement or other fluid requiring biological composting and disinfection, is itself re-fed into the liquid in admixture with the oxygen-containing gas, through a common opening above the fluid surface. In Fig. 3, foam 3' and air are sucked into opening 9' of pipe 4' and injected horizontally into the liquid 2' by impeller 5' rotated by motor 17' via shaft 16' which bears vertically displaceable foam slicer 21'. The shaft 16' may be obviated either by locating the motor beneath the impeller as in Fig. 1 (not shown) or by connecting the motor to the pipe so that the latter itself rotates as in Fig. 4 (not shown). In Fig. 5 (not shown) both the pipe and the shaft rotate but the pipe is shorter than the shaft and is vertically displaceable therealong in accordance with the fluid level, and the shaft carries a propeller at its lower end. In Fig. 6 (not shown) the entire motor-shaft-pipe-impeller assembly is supported by floats, and the pipe is a truncated cone dipping only a short way beneath the surface of the fluid; the shaft extends below the pipe and terminates in a propeller.
