Abstract
1457550 Aerating liquids H BEHAM 13 Nov 1974 [13 Nov 1973] 49125/74 Heading B1C A rotatable surface aerator comprises an upwardly divergent dished or frusto-conical shell 20 having external blades 22 with a pocket 25 at the bottom of each blade, each pocket having an aperture 26 communicating with the interior of the shell; in operation air is sucked into the pocket through the aperture when the aerator is rotated at sufficient speed in the direction of the arrows 40. As shown the blades are angle members 28 having agitating projections 39 at their upper ends; a chain agitator 38 is attached to the upper edge 37 of each pocket. The aerator may be supported from a platform (15, Fig. 1 not shown) to which are attached arms (12) terminating in floats (11); the driving motor (16) is supported on the platform and may be surrounded by a tube (17) which acts as a shield and air intake.
