Abstract

Scaffolding. - In staging apparatus for use in shipbuilding, having uprights and sliding brackets and platform supports, the brackets and supports 20, 21 are adjusted in height by the screw 12 and nut 18 operated by bevel-gearing 13, 14 and handle 17. The overhang of the staging supports 21 is adjusted by the pin 22 and a series of holes 23 in the bracket, the support swinging up on the pin 22 when not required. The uprights consist preferably of channel bars bolted together as shown and provided with footstep pieces. The lower end of each upright is secured by angle bars 31 to a pair of plates 29, which fit between the guides 30 and are adjustable therein to suit the width of ship. The guides 30 are bolted to a bed of concrete &c.
